Concept(less) Test

Oh no! EXAMS! EXAMS!? Nah, my degree doesn't seem to have real exams, just a little bit of a concept test instead! (Note: I still have exams just ones not relevant to my major...) Well that's OK I guess. So I open up the book that I was meant to have read over the past 14 weeks every week as reccomended and saw that I didn't even need to read all the chapters, or even all of a single chapter. Yes well that's good. First chapter only read a half, second chapter only need to read a half... and so on... Until it gets to World Cinema and history of the development of New Waves around the world, the head figures in different countries, the cultural influence on the content of the cinema, the rise of Hollywood ect. It was about 100 pages to read and the test was... tomorrow. OK! And after that there was even more to read!

Screw that!

Actually, in my bed ridden ill state I found it very interesting. I enjoyed reading about the different cultural influences on the different aspects of French New Wave and Japanese New Wave (As waves generally should never be old, though technically all the "New Wave" stuff happened over 40 years ago at the least.) but I just didn't have the energy to force myself to read all 100 pages nor could I stay awake through it all. With only half the book read through and massive gaps in my memory as to what I had actually read or any ability to recall what "Heurmenuetics" was (or even if that was how you spell it) I braved the major concept test! I wasn't stressed at all even though I hadn't actually managed to review everything that had been told to me in the unit...

Which was good because the test didn't actually have any relation to the unit! You know, just when you were like "Oh, I should've studied more." Martin (the awesomely funny lecturer) decides that it doesn't matter, as he's not entirely sure what he had taught us either so pops in random nonsense! YAY!

Now, in one lecture he mentioned Freudian psychology and his theories in relation to analysing audiences reactions or interactions with films, which makes a bit of sense though most of Freud has limited application to film theory at least that one tidbit of psychology was relevant. Now, in the concept test the whole idea of what was relevant and what wasn't... was completely ignored. Not only did he include many things about Freud but he then included other psychology questions that not only weren't part of Structuralism or Psychodynamics or anything Freud related, but had absolutely 0 relevance to film in it's entirety. Now seeing as I actually do psychological science as a general elective I could answer this bizarre inane question about psychological development of cognitive processes and the identification of the self in infants... Yeah. Exactly. What the hell? I doubt anyone else in the entire lecture theatre understood the question (which was an abismally worded one! The fact that I loath it's structure and explanation of the psychological concept it described fills me with confidence in my ability to do well in my psychology exam) but you know that's not important because at least I look good when people fail.

Then there were questions on films that we hadn't studied so only those who just so happened to have watched Citizen Kane a few times and researched the textual analysis (LIKE ME!) would've been confident/able to knowingly get the question right (it was True/False this one so at least it's not a massive fail for everyone involved.)

Oh and though many people afterwards (and during) were complaining to themselves about how incredibly ridiculous said questions were, or the other questions for that matter. They were ridiculous! I on the other hand was busy thinking to myself how terribly formatted the test was... Seriously, some questions lacked proper spacing on the page! There lacked appropriate designated areas to write responses to the T/F questions! FORMATTING PEOPLE! STRUCTURE! STRUCTURE!

But yes, I did afterwards also agree that the content was the major flaw (because quite frankly, after having to define Romantic Comedies 3 times in bizarre ways, some of which gave you a definition that sounded more like random nonsense than a definition of a film genre, no one really wanted to focus on me complaining about structure... just constant b***ing about ROMANTIC COMEDIES! AGGHHH!).

I do pride myself though on my ability to have answered such nonsensical questions in as intelligent sounding manner as I possibly could! Yes, I came up with very smart responses that had nice big words, were properly structured and really got to the core of the question (whatever the hell the core was).Ah, the elegance of defining the genre of films I've never seen... Like the Road Trip where I talked about the journey towards a place of pyschological or spiritual significance to the party, the events that change the antagonists perception of the importance of the destination and various aspects of their lives and the buddy or friend who is the motivation for the journey or the catalyst for dramatic/comedic action later in the film when they encounter strange people and situations. Yes. So much more intelligent sounding than "A movie where people go on a road trip. They do stuff, generally funny... They make it to their destination a changed person."

So I'm looking forward to seeing just how well I do compared to how warped the test was! Yay!

Now to study for EXAMS! REAL EXAMS! That go for many hours instead of just one and have many questions and essays to write instead of just a few T/F questions and short answers. I should probably study for them between classes instead of blogging while at Uni. Yeah, I'm at Uni now just chilling on some computers, updating my pet rabbits Facebook page I made for her (Panda Moustache Bunny is so cute! Yay! She now has 25 friends!)

Computers Run but they Can't Hide

"Mummm......... the computer is broken..." I say after many attempts to reformat/turn on/restart the computer in my room that led to failure.
And so starts the journey of how we got not only one brand new computer but two. Not for me though. We get a brand new desktop computer that looks seriously shiny and made of ownage compared to the outdated computer's we've previous had. Thankfully I get the old computer we had to share as a family (and now no one can complain about how I take up %50 of the harddrive when I'm only %17 of the family) and my mother got a brand new laptop because her old one died.
Well because we now have a new computer we can get rid of the old one we had and give it to you know: Me! Well I was certain some of the files I had contained a virus or two I didn't want to give to the brand new computer so I decided not to transfer any of my files until I had sorted through them. Simple enough... not going to reformat the computer just delete stuff off it. I decide to set up the computer in my room so I'm plug it in, turn it on and notice the mouse doesn't work so I decide to check the back to see if I've plugged everything in right... and I see this very very tiny black switch hidden near the power supply with the number "230" on it.

I flicked it.

The computer blew up.

SPARKS! SMOKE! BURNING! WHAT!? AGH!

*Jumps for the off switch*

AAAGGHHH! It blew up! What? What? Aww...

OK, so then I left it alone for a bit... then tried to turn it back on. Nothing happened. I tried later and it still wouldn't turn on. Leaving it alone didn't heal it, it was dead.

"Mummm... I blew up the computer...."

Well, my brother needed to fix it of course:
"OK don't worry, I think I fixed it. I plugged in a new power thing so it turns on... I don't know if it works yet because nothing else is plugged in. Also, the previous power thing plugged into here... but there's nothing on this one that plugs into there... So it might not work at all. I don't know what it does..."
"...."
Guess what the turn out was? It didn't work!

Nope. Still nothing. We cannabalised my old old computer that stopped booting up and even tried to hook the harddrive to it to no avail. Unfortunately the computer I had only owned for 5 minutes had died quite permanently.

I remember last time my computer stopped working I went to my friends house and got him to connect my harddrive to his computer and copy everything! Awesome! Well I go to his house after piano lessons, hook up the harddrive and then discover something very very bad....

I LOST EVERYTHING!

Irrecoverable. Irrecoverable? Unrecoverable.... CAN'T. GET. BACK. EVER! The harddrive was fried. I really had killed it. Nothing on it was accessable and that was very very unfortunate...

So... much... so... many documents. Sure, I had backed up my illegal copy of Speed Racer with German/Dutch subtitles! WOW! Aren't I glad for that? No. I had backed up some of my youtube videos but none of my flash animations I had been working on. I also lost tons of stories, scripts. notes and even half a dozen peoples phone numbers and addresses. (yeah, I keep them in notepad files. They don't take up much space...) I am quite annoyed...

But don't worry! Because thanks to some of my wonderful friends I have replaced SOME of my missing documents! :) Which I will now share with you... in what I call "Nostalgia 3: Getting old doesn't mean I'm getting smarter"

(Mulder has recently awoken to discover that his partner Scully - named "Shrimpy" because he has no other way of remembering her other than her sheer littlness - has been kidnapped by a psychopath with a fetish for make up)

Mulder was running along the streets yelling at random people.

Mulder: Are you a psychopath? Where’s Shrimpy!? Can anyone tell me the way to Albuquerque? Where can I find my partner? Are aliens hiding in your basement? Why is everyone running away from me?

Mulder sat down on a bench exhausted. He looked over to the person next to him. The person next to him looked back and waved and took a puff from his cigar.

Cigar smoking man: So Mulder… you want information about your partner, aliens and Albuquerque?

Mulder: Yes. How did you know?

Cigar smoking man: It’s amazing what I can find out when I turn my hearing aid on.

Mulder: Interesting… tell me more of this… hearing aid…

Cigar smoking man: In due time young one. But know I must show you something very special.

Mulder gasped and smiled.

Cigar smoking man: That’s right… a map!

Mulder frowned.

Mulder: Oh… ok then… map yeah ok… map.

Cigar smoking man: Now see how we’re here? Yes well if you go this way along this road you can get to Albuquerque.

Mulder: Ooohh! Maaapp!

Cigar smoking man: Yes, very good. Now as for the rest of the things you want I can’t help you with.

Cigar smoking man stood up to leave but Mulder grabbed him.

Mulder: Mulder want map!

Cigar smoking man: Uh… look over there while I run away!

The man pointed at the ground and Mulder instantly started staring. Meanwhile the man escaped down the street and around the corner. Mulder continued staring at the ground.

You're a Nomenclature!

Ever have one of those conversations that just don't make sense? Well a friend of mine are sitting in chemistry, we're doing work on organic chemistry (mm-mm gotta love those hydrocarbons!) and I turn to him and call him Carbolic acid or something similar to that...

...And then things got kinda weird...

"Yeah, well you're nitrous oxide!"
"You're Cyclohexane"
"You're cyclobenzene"
"You're a spectator ion"
"Oh ouch man, that was a serious burn... well you're Potassium Permanganate"
"You're methane"
"You're a group 7 element"
"You're an unsaturated oleate group"
"You're an electron cloud"
"You're an algal bloom"
"You're Ethelyne glycol"
"You're hard water"
"You're a soap and detergent"
"You're a weak acid"
"You're a strong base"
"You're dimethylbutane"
"You're a cathode"
"Well you're the hydrogen spectrum"
"You're the light spectrum"
"You're indigo"
"Indigo isn't a real colour!"
"Yeah, so you don't exist"
"Well you're standard temperature and pressure"
"You're a delocalised electron"
"You have a low electronegativity"
"Well you're dispersion forces"
"You're triangular planar"
"You're the boiling point of water"
"You're an algal bloom"
"I already called you that!"
"Oh... well you're sulfure tetrachloride"
"You're a redox equation"
"You're a molar mass equation"
"You're Antimony"
"You're Polonium. You killed Madam Curie!"
"No, Radium killed Madam Curie you idiot! You're Charles' Law"
"You're the conservation of mass"
"You're insoluble"
"You're enthalpy"
"You're vapour pressure"
"You're Arrhenius theory!"
"You're Bronsted-Lowry theory!"
"You suck so much... you're a conjugate acid-base pair!"
"You're Vanadium"
"Oh yeah? Well you're String Theory!"

And that was when I won! Because I mean, come on, you can't really BEAT string theory now can you as a non-sensical science-based insult can you? Oh burn.

He so got burnt. That was indeed a serious burn. I'm so cool.

P.S. This actually went on for half the lesson. It was very very long...

Anger.

Anger. It consumes us. It makes us go RRRAARRRR!!! Then hurt people. It causes us to rage around saying mean things to people but then again they deserve it? How can you tell? This is an out of context, completely unexplained minimalist hypothetical situation and so if you answered anything then RRAARRRRR!!! You're WRONG! (and a bad person and you smell. I don't actually know this but I'm angry at you so I'm going to say mean things.)

Many people say things that are wrong and stupid. You for one are reading this blog which is a very stupid thing to do... you're wasting your life. Haha the more you read the more you waste your life while I mock you! (Well aren't you double the dumb?)

Anger also prevents us from apologising when we're obviously wrong. It also makes us arrogant and think we're above the other person. This is not one of those times. I know for a fact that I'm right! (Now that statement no one would pay any attention to but when you think about it it's very complex and weird. For you see, I say I know that I'm right that you're wasting your life reading this blog but to tell you that I'm right about it you must continue to read after I have told you to stop and thus if you stop reading before I say it I'm wrong... But if you've read this explanation then I'm right. And I'm still right. I'm continueing to be right! Why do you continue to prove me right!? I pity you...)

That is, assuming I am right... but if I'm not then I'm wasting my life saying you're wasting yours (but then how am I wrong if this is pointless for me to do how does it become meaningful for you to read?)

*ding ding*

Existentialism time!

Well OK I have something and you try to find a constructed meaning in it... it is part of the goal of Atheistic and Theistic Exstentialism and there is such a thing as meaning or value in both. It is essential an individual creats meaning in life themselves...

OK that... meant nothing to my arguement. Absurdism! The pursuit of intrinsic or extrinsic meaning in the universe is a futile gesture but the pursuit itself may have meaning...

OK.... that actually didn't go where I wanted it to go. I wanted it go "There is no meaning but you can try to find it." Well that was fascinating wasn't it? Oh yes... oh and by the way in nihilism everything is pointless entirely and without question! And that makes me AAAAANNNGGGRRYYYY!!! (rar!)

Well here I am... wallowing in ANGER (Which is now in CAPITALS) because Nihilism done hurted me. There should always be a reason behind things. A good reason. Having good reasons behind things prevents ANGER from happening. I feel that if you are angry at someone you shouldn't overreact but if you're angry you obviously have a reason to be angry and this very fact should hint that the person who did the angerering (that's a word!... like, yeah, totally) should probably rethink their motives behind their actions. If they actually didn't do anything perhaps the person who got angry is just suffering from psychosis and is crazy?

I like to think that this imaginary person with no connection to life (non-mimetic in every sense of the word. Down to the tittle) isn't crazy and therefore has a reason. To say the person who supposedly did the bad thing is the only one to think things through is to say that the angered person is infallible and since they're not the pope (who doesn't get angry so we've instantly ruled him out at the beginning) then they too need to reconsider things.

OK so let's both put these imaginary people in the naughty corner in opposite sides of the imaginary room thingy... of... stuff. OK no. No I say they'll be in a large stadium! For playing basketball! No! Icehockey! (We're talking about ANGER here so duh!) OK so everyone needs to calm down and decide who exactly went wrong...

The problem is in many situations both of the people did something wrong. This is not the case. (Why? WELL BECAUSE I SAID SO! RRAAARRRR!!! Plus, it's a lot easier to say one person's wrong if you're angry so you don't have to blame yourself... that and there's too many variables in two people being wrong. Even more complicated if there's a third person who comes in wearing silly clothes. Or maybe one of the peoples clothes? THAT would probably get someone angry. "You stole my clothes!" "You killed my mother!" "She lied to me! She said we could both kill your mother!" "What? Who are you?" "Who are you!?" "Who's talking!?" "Who said that!?" "I'm androgynous!" "You're imaginary! And text! How can we tell?" "Because he just told you." "I'm a girl." "Aha! Proof you're androgynous!") So Person A has done something that has upset Person B and now Person B is experimenting with Voodoo dolls while Person C starts setting fire to Person A's house because Person D is dead.

No I just realised that this is incredibly ridiculous! What the hell? Oh for let's just say Person A did something bad, Person B has every right to be angry but shouldn't yell and go RARRR at Person A because of something I call regret.

Regret. It consumes you... it makes you go waaaaa!!! Then hurt yourself. It causes us to wallow around saying pathetic things to people but then again they deserve to hear "sorry"? How can you tell? This is an out of context, completely unexplained minimalist hypothetical situation and so is you answered anthing then waaaaa!!! I'm sorry for not explaining this! (I'm a bad person and I smell. I don't really but I'm regretful and so I'm going to say mean things about myself.)

Many people regret things that are wrong and stupid. You for one are reading this blog which is a very regretful thing to do... you're regretting wasting your life. Haha the more you read the more you wasted your life while I mock you! (Well aren't you double the dumb? "Yes! Yes I am! I'm sorry! I feel so bad...")

Regret also prevents us from standing up when we're obviously right.... because then the other person will get ANGRY at us.

So to conclude: we're trapped. Help. We're in a vicious cycle! We can't escape! We're just going to go from ANGER to regret to ANGER to regret and then repeat because we don't like to accept the idea that maybe we did something right... or maybe we're wrong... or maybe we're just plain confusing... The person who wins is the one smart enough to give a proper reason as to why someone else did something wrong.

This has been an unusual and, as always, unhelpful explanation to why I believe my conclusions are rational and not motivated my anger. Or was it? Now that statement is something you wouldn't pay attention to but when you think about it it's very complex and weird... because you see I said it was hypothetical and imaginary so was I talking about myself or just an example of what I would do? (Yes, I break into Ice Hockey rinks to be angry...)

For you see, you're wasting your life reading this blog... because it's very very repetitive...

Repetitiveness. It dulls us. It makes us go AAAGGHHH! Then try to kill ourselves. It causes us to bang our heads against the walls saying random things to no one but then again maybe we deserve it? How can you tell? This is an out of context, completely unexplained minimalist REAL LIFE SITUATION so if you answered anything then AGGGHHH!!! You're giving in to the repetitiveness! (and you're a bad person and you smell and you're a bad person and you smell and you're a bad person and you smell and you're a bad person and you smell and you're a bad person and you smell and you're a bad person and you smell and you're a bad person and you smell and you just skipped this didn't you smell and you're a bad person and you smell and you're a bad person for not reading this because I'm actually typing this not just copying and pasting you smell and you're a bad person and you smell and you're a bad person and you smell.... I don't actually know this but I'm repetitive so I'm going to repeat myself repeat myself repeat myself repeat myself.)

Many people say/do things that are repetitive and boring. You for one are reading this blog which is a very repetitive thing to do... you're wasting your life. Haha the more you read the more you waste your life while I mock you! (Well aren't you the dumbest person on earth for reading this far?) Many people say/do things that are repetitive and boring. You for one are reading this blog which is a very anyone who reads this sentence will have gold. life. Haha the more you read the morI promise you riches if you comment saying the word Arkansow dumbest person on earth for reading this far?) Many people say/do things that are repetitive and boring. You for one are reading this blog which is a very repetitive thing to do... you're wasting your life. Haha the more you read the more you waste your life while I mock you! (Well aren't you the dumbest person on earth for reading this far?)

Have a nice day. For you are free now. I have released you.

Epicness

I am made of epicness... No that's a lie I've made of carbon 12 and water. (Duuhh... idiot.) What is made of epicness (Epicness's molecular mass is 0. No number is epic enough for the element of epicness, nor does gravity affect truly epic objects. If you are touching the ground you cannot be made of pure epic.) is Lano and Woodley. They are awesome! They're awesowonderilliant! Yes, they are... That word basically is more awesome than awesome (and thus should be reserved for truly awesome things) and I plan on one day coining it as a real word in the dictionary. No joke! I shall one day make that world real you have my word! I have bet my friends that I could do so (well I said "I bet you this..." they just didn't say they agree back so I just assumed their unimpressed looks meant they completely agreed with me :) That's definitely what their words and actions signified I'm sure of it!) So my goal is simple: Publish a book or movie in which the word is used in context to allow people to use it further on in life. If Burgess can invent Nadsat I can invent my own slang term of Awesowonderilliant! (I also want to coin the slang term "Littlings" for children or newcomers in the lower years of a school. It's the last year of school for me and it's just so amusing to see all the little year 8's wandering around following each other because they think that somehow the person they're following knows more than them when really they don't... and I can't help but go "Oh look! Littlings are lost!" :P Yes... They're so LITTLE! Like... miniature people to the extreme... so they are now "Littlings" :) There. For those nerds out there; yes, it was inspired by the Jedi term for small children padawans "Younglings" so there's the daily piece of nerd references for you all) So you better all go round using that word! I want to be remembered as the person who coined it! Just like EVERYONE knows that John E. Wall coined the term "Cryptid" in 1983! (ISC Newsletter... although I didn't actually know that until I looked it up... yeah I'm not so nerdy to know where words were coined and when I'm just nerdy enough to know what words were coined recently by people.) Because absolutely EVERYONE knows THAT! (Who doesn't!? Not you for sure you just read it! If you've forgotten already you're kinda stupid or not paying much -iknowwhereyoulive- attention)

My next goal is to create a wikipedia article completely researched and written by me that doesn't get deleted. You see, as childish and amusing normal wikipedian vandalism is ("Oil is a black sticky substance that tastes like chicken..." or "Another example of an optical illusion would be this page. It's not really here and it's an illusion. Woooooooo" or my absolute favourite - although not my own - "THIS PAGE DOES NOT EXIST! THIS PAGE DOES NOT EXIST! YOU CANNOT DELETE IT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT EXIST! IT DOES NOT NEED CITATIONS BECAUSE IT DOES NOT EXIST! THIS PAGE DOES NOT EXIST!" which... unfortunately no longer exists...) there gets to a point where every immature idiot who thinks he's funny (ME! ME! ME! :D) decides that editing wikipedia to say that people who lived in the 18th century were actually superman just isn't that funny anymore and now that they've got banned indefinitely they just can't be bothered making another false account to continue their idiotic antics... (I've got banned twice! :P) But you see why vandalise wikipedia with such obviously stupid nonsense as random incoherent or absurdist-styled sentences when you can create something more subtle? Why not make seemingly legitimate contributions that really just aren't real at all? I'm going to try and edit a few articles and see if I can get something to stay on there... you see, not many people have faith in Wikipedia's authenticity or educational value or even how factually accurate it is but if you ever stop and try to edit something that isn't true into it you'll see just how hard it is for someone to make something that isn't true on there. I've tried so many times to put things on there I've failed so many times... but this time I'm going to be really ingenious and evil. I'm actually going to create references, put things into categories, structure it perfectly and I'm going to do everything that is required to create an article...

It's just all going to be lies :) Very well constructed lies! I'm going to test the boundries of Wikipedia's intelligence and scrutiny and I am going to create the best darn fake article ever! I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to put in it but I know it can be done! For you see there was an article once written that was so genuinely well done and complex that it nearly passed off as real! It was about a historic battle or something and even had a reference to a certain day with a name or something and it was all very well done! It was later found out not to be real but they preserved it anyway in a special page somewhere in the Wikiverse (HUGE big mass of text that only those learned in the special coding of the PHP programming language and can use either the MySQL or PostgreSQL relational database management system can eventually decipher and track down... Like Brion Vibber... or just go to google and type in "Wikipedia Nonsense Page") full of things that administrators needed to clean up but thought were good enough to keep somewhere. Yes, there is a page of things that were too good to permanently delete. This gave me inspiration for this idea that has taken me nearly two years to formulate and I am still thinking over some details but trust me... I shall soon find a way to do as I wish! Mwahahahahahaha! (I'm what's wrong with Wikipedia!.... Sorta!)

Here's the link to things you desperately want to read but didn't know existed! (Because they don't exist!)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:BAD

And here's the link to things you're glad you're smart enough not to try! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:List_of_really,_really,_really_stupid_article_ideas_that_you_really,_really,_really_should_not_create

Maybe I can involve the word "Awesowonderilliant" into wikipedia somehow... maybe wiktionary instead? Hmm... I dream of one day learning how to edit wiktionary... :)
